Terminal 2 at Heathrow was the first one to be opened in 1955 the original name was the Europa Building. About 30 airlines conduct their operation from this terminal serving some 9 million passengers every year. Some of the long distance flights operating from this terminal will be within Europe.
In November of 2009 Terminal 2 was shut down to rebuild it and bring it up to date in every aspect to meet the demand of travellers in this era. This new Terminal will be open to passengers sometime in 2014.
